Their story:
In 2003, the first vines and apple trees were planted on the hillside of the farm in Saint-Joachim-de-Shefford in the Eastern Townships.
One of the row schools is located at the end of the property, next to Route 241. In the 1940s, the owner of this land, Mrs. Antoinette Daigle, worked as a teacher in this school until it closed at the end of the 1950's.
With the help of the village artisans, the vineyard owners rebuilt one of these row schools, the 3rd Row School. There now exists a school with its bell, teacher's and students' desks just as it did more than 60 years ago. This school now serves as a cellar and place for processing grapes, apples, pears, plums and cherries.
" L’école du 3e rang vineyard and cider house pays tribute to teachers who taught from 1829 to 1960 in Quebec's 5,000 different rural row schools. Discover part of their history on the labels of our products today."
