The Afro-Quebecers Food Sovereignty Movement aspires to build a future where Afro-Quebecers communities have full access to healthy, culturally meaningful, and locally produced food. This vision is realized through the mobilization, coordination, and networking of local initiatives led by Afro-Quebecers, while influencing the implementation of provincial public policies that promote their food sovereignty.

Their story:
The NPO was created in March 2023. It is a joint initiative between several Afro-Quebec farmers and culinary organizations in the region aimed at promoting access to fresh, healthy, and sustainable Afro-Caribbean vegetables for the Afro-Quebec community of Montreal and the general public, while supporting local farmers.
The movement is made up of professionals from different fields relevant to the organization's mission (agriculture, horticulture, nutrition, university research, etc.), who pool their knowledge and expertise to best serve the community.

The movement intends to revalue Afro-descendant knowledge, practices and food cultures, while building sustainable, autonomous agricultural models rooted in local realities.
