Introduction to practical aquaponics

The Verdun Aquaponics Initiative is proud to announce an Introduction to Practical Aquaponics course, in French, on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Multi-CAUS community room, 6049 boul. Lasalle, Verdun H4H 1M8. The price is $25.

This practical aquaponics training session is aimed at people who are interested in aquaponics and want to understand how it works.

You might be exploring the idea of installing a system at home. Or you just want a general idea of what is involved in designing, installing and operating an alternative food production system.

The training session includes:

  • Introduction to different aquaponics techniques;
  • An explanation of the nitrogen cycle;
  • The main components of the system and their characteristics;
  • Fish to breed and plants to cultivate;
  • Design of a small/medium sized system;
  • Daily maintenance tasks;
  • Parameters to monitor; and
  • The issues, challenges and opportunities of aquaponics.
