Chronique d’une ville de Nadine Gomez
April 29 @ 19:00 – 21:00
Documentary. Quebec. 2025. 76 min. Original English Spanish and Japanese version with French subtitles.
A disparate grouping of millions of urbanized lives, cities are also the setting for our dreams and our most intimate concerns. Carried by a floating temporality, Chronique d’une ville is woven together through encounters and takes the form of a wandering through a gentle purgatory. Oscillating between fantasy and reality, to the point of giving voice to the ghostly voices of our metropolises, this wandering essay reminds us that we inhabit The City as much as it inhabits us in return.
Thanks to an immersive soundtrack, patient camerawork, and meticulous editing, this film transports us through the streets and labyrinthine alleyways of Mexico City, Tokyo, and Montreal, where millions of individuals coexist, both alone and surrounded by others. Revealing several characters whose stories intersect and echo one another, Nadine Gomez also gives a voice to these cities that transform us as much as we transform them. (MAS-RIDM)
